Answers to the questions people ask most before starting therapy.
For most people, yes. Research on video and phone therapy shows results on par with in-person sessions for anxiety, depression, grief and relationship issues. Online therapy also means no commute, and many clients in Toronto and across Ontario find it easier to open up from their own space.
No. I'm based in Toronto, but because every session is by Zoom or phone, I work with adults and couples anywhere in Ontario. All you need is a private spot and an internet or phone connection.
We talk by phone or Zoom. You share a little about what's bringing you to therapy, I explain how I work, and you can ask anything you like. By the end, we'll both have a sense of whether we're a good fit. There is no obligation to book further.
In Ontario, Registered Social Workers (RSW) are regulated by the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers and are authorized to provide psychotherapy. I'm a Registered Social Worker with a Master of Social Work (MSW) and over 33 years of clinical experience, and I provide individual psychotherapy and couples counselling.
Many extended health plans in Ontario cover services from a Registered Social Worker (RSW). Check your plan for "social worker," "MSW," or "psychotherapy" coverage. I provide receipts with my registration number so you can submit a claim.
It depends on you and what you're working on. Some people come for a few sessions around a specific decision or transition. Others find ongoing support helpful over months. We'll check in regularly about what's working and adjust together.
Yes. Relationship and couples counselling is available by Zoom for couples anywhere in Ontario. We can meet with both of you in the same room or from separate locations.
Yes. I offer clinical supervision by Zoom or phone to social workers and therapists across Ontario, whether you're newly registered or seasoned. We can work through ethical questions, complex cases, documentation, and work-life balance.
I work with adults 18 and over, and I do not provide crisis or emergency services. If you are in immediate danger, call 911 or the Canada Suicide Crisis Helpline at 9-8-8.
Yes. Everything you share in session is private, with the narrow legal exceptions that apply to all regulated health professionals in Ontario, such as risk of serious harm to yourself or others, or the safety of a child. We'll go over these together in our first session.

Your records are kept confidential and stored securely in line with Ontario's privacy law (PHIPA) and the standards of my College. Nothing is shared with anyone, including family members or your doctor, without your written consent.
